Every entrepreneur faces a crucial decision: should you pivot, push forward, or let go? This choice is deeply personal and can evoke strong emotions. We invest our time, energy, and passion into our projects. Therefore, deciding whether to shift, persevere, or walk away is challenging. Often, this decision hinges on three key factors: alignment, traction, and energy.
Let’s break it down to help you make the best choice for your business or project.
1. Pivot → When the Vision is Right, but the Approach Needs Adjusting
A pivot is necessary when:
✔ You’re receiving feedback suggesting a better direction.
✔ The core idea has potential, yet the execution isn’t meeting expectations.
✔ You feel resistance not due to a lack of effort, but rather from a misalignment in strategy.
Example: If a program isn’t gaining traction but there's a demand for something similar with minor adjustments, pivoting to address those needs becomes essential.
2. Push Forward → When Challenges Are Just Roadblocks, Not Dead Ends
Push forward when:
✔ You still feel excited about the vision and see clear value in your work.
✔ The challenges arise from timing, visibility, or consistency rather than the concept itself.
✔ You observe signs of progress, even if it’s slow.
Example: If you’re launching something new and gaining traction, albeit slowly, perseverance may be required to break through.
3. Let Go → When It No Longer Serves Your Purpose or Energy
Let go when:
✔ You feel drained instead of inspired by your work.
✔ The efforts significantly outweigh the returns - emotionally and financially.
✔ Holding on restricts you from discovering new opportunities.
Example: If a project consistently drains your energy and no longer aligns with your values, it may be time to release it and allow space for new possibilities.
My Personal Experience: When Letting Go Is the Hardest Choice
For over a decade, I dedicated myself to a business I loved. It was not just work; it was a significant part of my identity. I envisioned its future and recognized its growth potential. However, the pandemic changed everything for me. The world evolved, and so did I.
I grappled with this decision. I attempted to push forward and cling to what I had built with love and dedication. Yet, deep down, I realized that the joy I once derived from it had diminished, and my well-being was suffering. My journey into entrepreneurship began after a health scare; ironically, I found myself facing the same lesson again: my well-being had to come first.
Letting go was an arduous process. It felt akin to mourning a part of myself. However, in the aftermath, I discovered clarity, new opportunities, and a renewed sense of purpose. Sometimes, closing one door is the essential step to see the others waiting to open.

Making the Right Business Decisions: A Practical Approach
If you’re still wrestling with these choices, consider asking yourself:
Would I start this today, knowing what I know now?
Am I forcing something to work, or am I allowing it to flow naturally?
If I let go, what new opportunities might arise for me?
When you take a step back to assess your situation with clarity, the right choice often emerges. Whether you decide to pivot, push forward, or let go, trust that each decision serves as a stepping stone toward greater alignment and growth.
